Dictionaries
The expert linguistic data of Lexicala stem from diverse dictionary resources compiled by K Dictionaries’ teams of lexicographers and translators all over the world, for the creation of monolingual, bilingual, multilingual and learner’s dictionaries for 50 languages.
A few exceptions concern legacy dictionaries acquired from leading local dictionary makers such as DSL (Society for Danish Language and Literature, Denmark), Houaiss (Brazil), Random House (USA), and Språkbanken (The National Language Bank of Sweden, Sweden).
Each dictionary prototype is conceived with its own macrostructure and entry microstructure, to serve a unique purpose and satisfy a specific target user group. The following dictionary types are available in various digital forms, online and in mobile apps, and in print.
Global Multilingual Series
A series of multi-layer cross-lingual lexical datasets for 25 languages.
Each language core is developed independently from scratch, based on corpus evidence, sharing the same overall framework and technical infrastructure for all the languages.
The underlying monolingual layer can be used on its own or serve as a base for adding translation equivalents in other languages to develop bilingual pairs. The bilingual pairs are juxtaposed in the same dataset and form a multilingual network around the monolingual core. The different language networks can be linked across to each other on different layers.
